Waterproofing your RC and winter running PT 1

Check out Squirrels forum! forums.thetoyz.com This video is on how to water proof your nitro and electric RC. Both are basically the same and I included the nitro engine and difficulties that it experiences in the snow and also rain and water. The first section is on batteries where you should look at electrical contacts and seal them with eletrical tape and liquid tape or skotchguard by 3m. the receiver can use a balloon baloon and a zip tie for one method. Another is to use plastic dip and the last is pouring liquid tape on it. The motor does not need weather proofing or winterizing. The nitro engine needs a sock or foam wrapped around the head to retain heat. Servos can be sealed by plastic dip or silicone adhesive with green slime by AE around the main gear. esc’s need to have the heatsink heat sink with full metal to metal contact. picco rb .12 .15 2.5 3.3 .18 os axial lrp spec 3 .21 .20 .23 .21 .25 .26 .27 .28 .30 .32 collari trxv sirio hyper mini st revo traxxas hpi savage x ss lst lst1 lst2 2 1 aftershock gt gt2 ae associated mgt 8.0 mini mgt mmgt firestorm hellstarter warhead warhammer tower terror xxxnt xxx-nt jato stampede rustler rusty pede tmaxx t maxx s max bandit slash slayer platinum ofna buggy truggy monster truck mt hyper 7 8.5 9 mgt comp MGM lx mbx pro 4-tec crt crt.5 hyper mini mugen kyosho 777 WE MBXt ravager violator team magic hudy XXXnt XXX nt ravager violator force .32 .21 .28 sp2 wheelie vid video nitro super charger supercharger rb sc xl gt gt2

  2. NITROrcCARS1 says:

does this also work for nitro engines

  3. keeton520 says:

the battery thing will it work wit lipos

  4. Thomson132 says:

if you use the liquid tape is it dangerous if you hit the electronic conector with it or can you destroy your battery with being not carefull enough??

  5. MudBogger911 says:

ok for the servo on the truck i don’t know where or what theat is can u please help me out?

  6. Squirrelod says:

@YeahFrenchy You will not be able to cool your electronics.

For the patience- You want to do this the right way. I took the above techniques and show it being done on a crawler. I have footage of my crawler (and even the camera goes under water) up if you want to search for it.

    Just my .02. =)

  7. YeahFrenchy says:

Can I “Bloon” All my elec’s? any cooling issues, overheats? I dont have the time nor the patience to do all that fancy stuff haha.

  8. TheLogitech510 says:

yes, and he told u in da vid

  9. Devlin543 says:

can i waterproof my electros by wrapping electrical tape around them?

  10. xxxangelxxxxx says:

    @xxxangelxxxxx

Do you think waterproofing those 3 will be enough or do I need to waterproof each and every single part you waterproofed in your vids? Sry for bothering you but I need some advice here :P

  11. xxxangelxxxxx says:

    @Squirrelod

Yeh ok thanks. As you just saw I don’t have much experience with this kind of stuff. Im gonna buy an rc crawler and I don’t wanna risk breaking anything while trying to make it waterproof. So i’m basically gonna try to waterproof the servo, the receiver and the battery connections as those 3 seem to be easy to waterproof. I’m not going to go too deep and make the car swim or smthing I just wanna be sure that I can use it in snow or some mud and stuff.

  12. Squirrelod says:

Receivers typically do not get hot.

  13. xxxangelxxxxx says:

is there a possibility that the balloon is gonna make the receiver overheat?

  14. Squirrelod says:

It works and I show it working in another video. I also show this method working on a kit underwater.

  15. 251southernsmoke says:

Just dip the full servo in? and when it drys the servo will work? what about the actual motor part

  16. Randizle10 says:

hay squirrel i have a tmaxx 2.5 and i drive it in the winter and the motor temp is around 140 2 180 degries u think im gonna have to replace the motor this swummer cause the were on the piston and sleeve??

  17. hwes3525 says:

  18. TheYamahaarcticcat says:

  19. 13Star13Fire13 says:

  20. oxymoron55051 says:

  21. shutupnoobvideos says:

  29. braaup says:

You guys really need to grow up.. (and this is comming from a 15 year old!)

  30. ddrlankyj says:

that’s a pretty awesome track design

  31. beardeddragonsrock12 says:

@eyeAMtwinkEE don’t get me wrong electric is fast but what would you rather do wait 15, 20 minutes to charge the battery. Or just pop the top of the gas tank and take 5 seconds to fill it up. Plus i hate the sound of electric, id rather have something that sounds like a dirt bike or weed eater than an annoying mosquito sound

  32. eyeAMtwinkEE says:

@beardeddragonsrock12 Electric is faster and more powerful. I think you’ve been sniffing a bit too much of those nitro fumes.

  33. spacepolic29 says:

it’s like 2 mins away from my grandparents house lol

  34. Pablosk833 says:

  39. beardeddragonsrock12 says:

im goin with my hpi savage 21 with a hyper 21 engine i might rebuild the 25 i have and put it on there with a 3 speed tranny but i dont know what should i do stick with what i have or go with the new setup.

  40. beardeddragonsrock12 says:

no it wont dude i know electric are fast but there weak nitro all the way.

  41. n1k0f1br4 says:

si ma ci sono troppe buche ntel terreno -.-

  42. Zlyzer says:

For about 30 seconds.. before the batteries go flat :P Brushless is fun though, I’d like to trick a cheap car out with a crazy motor and gearing with 6s lipos for some wild experiment

  43. robinhorckmans says:

    Belle piste !

  44. futurecomedian6040 says:

    huge ass track

  45. oxymoron55051 says:

hell with a brushless engine a lipo and the right gear setting, elictric will leave nitro in the dust

  46. slashracer111 says:

Type in “Nic Case world record” on the youtube search thing. WHO CARES WHAT IS BETTER

  47. oddsock100 says:

i run both electric and nitro and have done for many years i find both as much fun as the other and they both take as much skill to drive, alot of ppl think just cause nitro is noisy its fast ive seen some elecy cars leave nitro behined, i just bash mine so i dont notice much difference tbh

  48. warranqe says:

cos you know you made a mistake

  49. heythatsmeagain says:

2 years and i have never looked back on electric im not going to argue about this anymore you have your opinion i have mine

  50. xlxshanexlx says:

yeah i totally agree with you guys, IpoodFTW and amdintelxsniperx
