Traxxas 1/16 E-Revo VXL on an off-road track

This is the new Traxxas E-Revo VXL brushless monster truck. It is box stock in this video. The first segment is using the included 7.2 volt Traxxas NiMH battery – I am filming while some friends drive it. It was the first time driving this RC for each of them, to give you an idea of how this handles. The second segment is with a Zippy 3s 11.1 volt 1300mAh battery – I am driving. This was my third time driving this E-Revo. With the stock tires, it works surprisingly well. It drives almost exactly like the full-size version and is a TON of fun on the track. With the 3s lipo it really has too much power for racing, 6 cell NiMH or 2 cell LiPo would be perfect.

I received my new tires and we decided to test them with my friend’s mini revo while im waiting for a new bearing for mine… setup: CC mamba max 9000 kv 3S lipo flightmax zippy 1800mah and then flightmax zippy 2X 2S 2200mah (4S) 35t 45t on 3S 35t 55t on 4S HPI super nitro foam tires First test we used 28t pinion and 55t spur gear, it was undergeared… then we ran 35t 45t but after some run the spur gear melted on 3S, we then installed the 55t spur gear but ran it on 4S. For the run at 82mph the GPS was shut off accidentaly… you can hear the “beep” sound when we install the body… most of the runs we were at 3/4 throttle, the pavement have too much bump make it hard to control…. Thx for watching!!

with that much power 4wd becomes a huge advantage. Not you won’t slide with 4wd, but you can hold much more speed and even accelerate through it in the curves.

very nice control of the car for a box stock setup.
And if im not mistaken, thats a DX3.0 i saw there. Excellent radios, have one in my mini revo, and well, i can really feel the difference. Mine’s now in full-blown competition setup, and it’s seriously fast!
i shall post videos soon when i collect enough racing footage. :)

  11. ellenbrookhobby1 says:

@Rccar23 he uses a DX3.0, which is the older versions of the Spektrum radios. i still to this day run one, even though mine is about 4 years old. Bloody good radios. tough as nails too.

great video, thank you. l’ve never had the chance to find a track i can run it on, it was fun watching stock merv on the track. I’m down to 19T pinion because of over heating, can’t seem to find heat sink or fan made to fit mini revo esc (that’s in stock) I got 60wt shock oil, 50 diff fluid, black springs so far.

  13. gsxr723 says:

  14. SuperNItroRCFReak says:

  32. MDRPDTROMGLOL says:

Merci

  35. MikePeperni says:

@kraxetk Hi, i dont know he exact speed limit, we didnt used the gps in the buggy for the 100mph run because we were waiting for a new one, the old one was broken.
We used it in the revo, and later witha the buggy off camera , got 98.4 mph with the buggy running a weaker battery, with the gearing we got 100mph on radar… :)

It is a very good speed measuring tool. :)

  36. kraxetk says:

@MikePeperni Hi, what is the speed limit for the Forerunner 101. I noticed you did’nt use it in the faster car vids. Is it a pretty good speed measuring tool?

  37. MikePeperni says:

@nevrnuftorq the foams are a must, the setup help, and we used a lot of room! :)

  38. nevrnuftorq says:

the garmin doesnt lie!!! dont know how you ever keep that thing straight though

  39. MikePeperni says:

@Sportwerks408 They are HPI super nitro foam, pre-glued to the wheel, we ran the mamba 5700 motor. :)

  40. Sportwerks408 says:

    What wheels/tires are those?

  41. Sportwerks408 says:

WHere did you get those wheels/tires?Is that the stock motor?Or a castle?Love the truck…Great job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  42. MikePeperni says:

    @Dshall88 i think it was SMC 25C 3S 1800mah

  43. Dshall88 says:

    what batterys are those

  44. MikePeperni says:

  46. MikePeperni says:

@bdabeast05 you are right. We ran it on 3S and 4S to see if it could handle it.
It could handle 3S, on 4S it would overheat and lost power after 2 runs.:)

  47. bdabeast05 says:

but i thought 9000kv can only handle 2 cell lipo

  48. ANTWEE2782 says:

how did you fit a mamba max to fit on that car!?!?!?!?!?
    your rims a B3AST btw

  49. ruffrider28435 says:

i tried on ebay no luck i guess it’s like you said hard to find. I found some on another website but they want you to pay9.99 just for a membership to buy any thing off there.

  50. MikePeperni says:

@ruffrider28435 They are HPI super nitro foam, they come pre-glued on this rim, but they are hard to find, they are discontinued, your best bet is on ebay :)
