Ok all finished now, i think the black chrome Talons look better with the yellow and black theme, rear lights in, not too bright which is more ‘scale-like’.

Mud flaps attached, not sure how long they will stay on, all i need to do is find a suitable dusty car park :)

I hope you guys like it. The roof lights are from a pound shop, attached to a proline roof rack, i bought a few, they are pretty durable, only the plastic that attaches them to the roof bar snaps sometimes in a major tumble.

You might want to also try thick Lexan, this shell is for the Traxxas Slayer so was .60 thick, I’ve got some off-cuts.

The fronts lights are made from:

  • plastic card
  • plastic welded
  • painted black

These were very frustrating to do as the shell was curved and i was putting 2 in each cluster, had to get the angles right and do the same for the other side, the closest to the grill are 100000 mcd 10mm leds, the outer are 25000, 5mm, the rears are from Maplins.

Thanks for looking cheers.

@BRSHARK hi there, the lights are mini torches, they are the ones you fit to your head with an elastic band etc, i mod’ed the bracket to fit these to a proline roof rack.

  4. BRSHARK says:

Hi omega, what type of lights you’re using in the car roof?

@reggaecracker hey, thanks for looking, i just thought i’d mention this is extended, so i reckon a stock nitro stampede will not fit this shell..copy all you like, no problems…I pref the Nitro too, but only down side is the noise, you’re limited to where you can run so people do not complain..Cheers

  9. reggaecracker says:

  12. cripin2021 says:

  13. KyleandTate says:

dude, did you have to modify the desert rat body to get to fit on the stampede? and what did the body look like before you put all of the stickers on it? I want to make a body like that. looks sweet!

  14. TheEddie741 says:

  15. ANGELICW4R says:

  16. butkicker177 says:

did you have to drill new holes in the body or extend out your stampede for that body to fit?

  17. omega4200 says:

@ANGELICW4R hi there, thanks for looking, i made the lights myself, the roof spots are on the proline roof rack.

  18. ANGELICW4R says:

How much did the led set up cost u. Im getting the Slash 4×4 1/10 scale an i want to get the same light fixtures on the truck

  19. somekid725 says:

where did you get the lighting kit??

  20. 201andrew says:

well, my cousin has the stampede vxl for like 2 years, and all he broke was his steering block, and drive shaft, his motor never got weak, and his esc is still perfect

  21. omega4200 says:

@201andrew thanks for looking, I’m on my 3rd VXL esc, and my second VXL motor, they’re not cheap to replace, sometimes i wish i’d stayed with the xl-5 esc and 12t motors..the 12t motors do die if debris gets in, but are much cheaper to replace.
But if you need insane speed Brushless is the way to go, my current vxl esc is playing up so when it dies i’ll go Mamba Esc, with the vxl motor..

  22. 201andrew says:

its a 1/10 scale, ihave it, and im upgrading to a vxl 3500 motor 3s esc. i hate brushed, they brake and weaken so fast and easy

  23. rigthguard420 says:

@hladik2142 u know u can put the pedes rear a arm on the front to make it wider and use nitro rustler rear hubs or rc10 gt2 rear hubs

  24. boltthesuperdog98 says:

I maybe wrong, but is that a stampede chassis, cool light rack

  25. omega4200 says:

@traxxas4life13 they’re pretty tough, and have taken a few serious tumbles! but they do break off where they are screwed into the plastic. I’ll be trying use some off cut lexan at this stress point, so should be much better. thanks for looking, Cheers
