Part 2 of 2 speed transmission in a Nitro Rustler. The video includes running it up and down the street. The transmission shift can been heard and seen. The street was wet from rain so it was hard to get traction. I never got it to full speed but did achieve ridiculous speed for these conditions.

nice workmenship always good to say u did somthing on ur own
Hey I need some help. I’m in the process of making the 2speed conversion on my rusty and I REALLY need to know how u made the motor mount so the jato tranny can fit. Please let me know
Would u take 400$
y u not make more vids of ur rustler
@markbell1969stang I could offer $200 without the radio. I know its low but I’m poor. I’m on a mission to prove to a local club that a Rustler can be fast AND competitve in the 2wd series.
I do have the car and yes – if a reasonable offer was made I will sell the car.
It is in great condition, comes with numerous used tires, FM programmable controller, a nice body and a beater body. – make an offer.
DO you still have this car and would you want to sell it?
Thats kule, nice work.
Thumbs up mods.
i hate my nitro rustler, it break all the time and its a black hole for money. and the engine hard to tune, im selling it and probly will be done with r/c cuz i dont wanna get any electric with lipos that i have to get crazy $ chargers, and nimh sucks
dude that is sick . ive got a 3.3 on my rustler and she is nice but your is bad ass
Great – can you send or post some pictures? Better yet can you post a video of it running?
Ive done this too, thanks for the help. Found your video very helpful. Although, i used Jato driveshafts on mine, its a much easier job and they are stronger. Only thing i have to sort out now is the rear suspension is too low as the rear shock tower isnt as wide. Im running the 2.5 engine atm and when that dies ill get the 3.3
can you start a rustler that has an ez start system with a drill
I had to make a new motor mount. I think it is shown in either part 1 or part 2 of the video. I had to cut the bracket that connects the transmission to the fuel tank frame to get clearance for the bell housing and flywheel. I had a lot of fun trying something new – good luck and let me know how it turns out.
Very Cool!! I just bought a new chassis and a jato transmission to try this and my clutch bell to spur gear currently is off set by approx 1/2 inch in order to mesh….any suggestions??? Running a traxxas 3.3….thanks
stockers are soft, but if you dont HAMMER them it will work fine, but if you have an issue just get some CVDS that are easily found.
great vid, some useful tips i have a rustler wouldnt mind doin summat like that to mine,, keep it up
i like the fact how u r very few of the guys on you tube that know what there talking about, but im thinking about getting a new nitro rustler and i was wonduring if u had any problems with the drive shafts because they look weak to me , stock that is
can anybody tell me how i can put 2 speed on my traxxas tmaxx 2.5
hey man great job. i have a nitro sport but been using rustler parts and seems to be good with it but ill be planing to change it over to rustler all together. im looking at putting a 2 speed setup which is totaly different (but your way is another idea), ill be using the standard gearbox and get a new input shaft machined for the 2speed to mount on and its 110 bucs here in the downunder not including new shaft and also i have the trx 3.3 motor for mine and its just got the like crazy…
I paid $170 at the local hobby store.
what is it for engine? Im going to buy a new one :/
ccol, thanks man
Yes I posted on UTF. You will need to build a new mount because the motor shifts towards the center of the car out of location for the stock mount. It is easy and cheap to build. All you need is a hacksaw. drill and a file.
are you on the traxxas forum?
the rustler guys would be droolin over your project.
do you think you would need to make custom motor mounts if you were using the stock engine? do you have room for the ez start?
crab music in the start
rusty!
my engine cooler kept falling off so i bought the rpm one and it friken melted on me hahha took it into the shop and they said theyd take care of it for me because rpm wont allow the public to know what the melting point is…haaha
all depends its a lot of cleaning and if one grain of sand gets in the fuel tank ur guna need to take the fuel tank out and clean it with a hose or sumthing, my rustler has been sitting inn my garage for like 5 months cuz i dont feel like doing all that
oh, im am thinking bout taking mine to the beach, would u or wouldnt u recommend doing that
im i took it to the beach, and got sandl in the line coming out of the fuel going into the exahust i can clean it and replace the ine im just to lazy
whats stoping it from working?
lil of both but planning on getting 2 sets my car is currently not working tho
depends on were u r going to b riding, on road or offroad
i have on but it dont wheelie
hey i have a nitro rustler im a 13 year old. very good car runs with no problems. my tires are completely smooth and have no grip are do u have any suggestions for new tires.
all those sounds are from windows pinball
ya they can i jus bought one and broke it in today and it rides wheelies all the way down the street
listen dipshit, i have the rustler 2.5 and on the street it will do wheelies all day long, moron, you dont even freakin own one, shut your piehole little boy, go spam and run your mouth off in a yahoo chat room.
Shut up 721069 you dipshit.
and the guy who invented the word “copy” should sue YOU for spelling his word wrong!! dipshit…
perfect for a beginner, it was my first car. put a 3.3 in it and it will wheelie your whole block. i have a 3.3 in mine 2.5 got too slow for me.
It is capable of wheel stands and it was my beginner car. I love it. It’s got a simple setup that is easy to learn and the parts are not expensive.
I have the 2.5 Rustler, I run 20% Nitro to it and it can pull the front wheels off the ground easy. I leave my stock knobs on it when I’m in the grass and clay and throw my Anaconda street tires on when I hit the pavement.
is it actually capable of doing wheelies? and would this be a good beginner car?
50 mp/h
how fast does it go?..
lol
jeez do something original, this vid is stolen from traxxas
I came here expecting to see YOU doing wheelies with YOUR nitro rusty…
