Traxxas Slash RC remote controlled car being upgraded from it’s standard options to a faster Maxamps lipo battery RTR kit.
Video Rating: 4 / 5
The Traxxas Slash has been tearing up backyards and racetracks all around the country and for very good reason. The Slash provides a fast, durable and nimble truck in one great looking package. There are many of us who just can’t leave well enough alone with any of our vehicles and the Slash is no exception. One of the first areas many look to upgrade on this truck is the shocks, as the performance of the stock plastic shocks can definitely be improved upon. Dynamite has a ton of great aftermarket parts out there for the Slash, including a terrific set of aluminum shock bodies and shock caps. We’ve put together a quick tutorial to show you how to disassemble the kit shocks, what parts you’ll need to recycle and how to reassemble everything. It should take you just a few minutes to complete and the effort will be well worth it. These new shocks will smooth out your ride dramatically, making your Slash easier to drive faster. Questions? LiFe batterys sound niiiiiiiiiiiiiiice to run
@JasonMaxamps Haha, shut him down! Betcha he didn’t call
@MaxAmpsMedia It shouldn’t take a long time to get the worthiness from your batteries and why have you people been going on aboutgeetting rid of the c rating hype you try and trick people and you rate your batteries in burst c ratings if you rated them truly you would get a much more different rating and battery
@MaxAmpsMedia You offer the warranty because the cells will break your batteries are too expensive and nobody i know of would evr buy your batteries
@aaron13133 Our packs are built here in the USA with A grade cells. We offer a 3 year 300 cycle warranty for a reason.
@MrDrob08 We use A grade cells. They are not the same C rate since turnigy does not offer a 60C battery. Ours includes a 3 year 300 cycle warranty and are built here in the USA. You get what you pay for. Sometimes it just take a while to find out.
@prolineracing1 The 13,500 is some serious run time.
@CAchronicles I agree, he should have removed the comment made by valickknight.
Man!I love your lipos!I bought the 3s 13500 and it is awesome.especially on sand!
whats the full name of the motor and battary
@JasonMaxamps Your really giving company a good name. Way to get hostile. P.S you look retarded doing your reviews and your products blow. I cant wait till your companies bankrupt.
ok i have purchased 1 of your lipos and 1 of turnigys lipos they are both 2s and both the same C rating. they perform about the same but the turnigy takes like 5 mins longer to charge.they both get the same run time, but yours was almost twice as expencive. so clearly your batteries way to over priced.
personally, i like the turnigy batteries. maxamps are good batteries, but way over priced
your batteries are WAY too expensive, 150 bucks for a battery? and the flux needs 2? I have 4 batteries for my truck and it soct me about 300 bucks, tops, the SMC SUPERIOR matching concept. 80 bucks each. not 150. lower your price to around 90-100 bucks. there is no way that a battery costs 150 bucks.
Really? Maybe you should take a reading and writing class before you type comments like that. If you’d like feel free to call me at our shop if you’d like to discuss this further. 1-888-654-4450 ask for Jason

sweet thanks im gonna get that for x mas
do these come with shock caps… on rc planet they dont show any picures of these with caps
@Arakon I’d give product support a call. it doesn’t happen often but with any mass-produced item there could be an issue with the set you have.
@HorizonRCdotCom
I give up on these. Brand new o-rings, added a bit of green slime-like lube for additional sealing, managed to get one more shock to work without leaking all over the place. Two of them still leak gobs of oil, I’ve used up two half bottles of shock oil by now and wasted hours, no way to get them to seal properly. I don’t know what the cause is, but at the rate they leak, they’d be empty within 2 days of just sitting without even driving.
@Arakon I would double check the o-rings. I have never had an issue with these leaking but I used fresh o-rings too.
@HorizonRCdotCom
I got mine installed last night, but this morning 3 of the four had leaked between a few drops and a quarter of the oil from the bottom, if I move the shock rod a few times, it actually comes out covered in oil.. the o-rings are still all good, I also tried to pick two that looked absolutely perfect (none have tears in the first place), reassembled a shock with them, and it started leaking and pulling in air within a few moments. I had assembled them exactly as per your video.
@Arakon I have not had an issue with the caps coming off once I upgraded from the kit plastic shocks.
Have you ever noticed the caps coming off again? Metal on metal will not allow them to pop off, but they unscrew kinda easily. I did apply a drop of blue loctite, but I am not sure if it can set due to the slight oil spillage.
@383honda Well the stock motors don’t last really all that long, and part of the reason is heat. Heat kills those motors and if you over-gear the motor it will heat up all that much faster. Drop a few teeth on the pinion and that will help. Also that 17T motor will actually need a smaller pinion than stock so you’ll need to gear that down too.
hi i got a problem with my slash it keeps on getting really hot and i fried the stock motor and today i put a 17 turn venom in it and it started smoking after the first drive and now the motor barely turns is it the esc i got no clue let me know what you think
Thanks.
@estukaye
You got it.
So a 3 hole piston allows more oil to pass through resulting in a quicker compressing and rebounding shock?
man your a great narrator you are like a proffesional!
I think they will. I am not 100% but I think the Rustler uses the same length shocks as the Slash.
@HorizonRCdotCom do these only work for slash or can i use them for a rustler
Love your videos, noticed 2 o-rings still on table, where those extras or just an over site?
Also can you do a video about upgrading wheels and tires. Im new to my slash and know nothing. I want to get bigger and wider tires for my slash thanks
ok thanks
No, the only color the Dynamite shocks come in is blue.
ok thanx do they make them in red
I believe they use the same shocks. If so, YES, this will dramatically improve the handling of your car.
hey nice vid should i upgrade my bandit? plz comment back
thank you!
The Ti-Nitride ones will be smoother and operate with less friction than the standard ones.
oh alright thanks. would it be better to buy tri-nitride shafts instead of stock ones?
Absolutely. If you don’t then you’ll be binding up your suspension and possibly damaging the o-rings. The replacement shock shafts are under $5 I believe.
thanks for the tutorial!
btw, is it nessecary to replace a bent shock shaft? because im trying to spend money at the bare minimum to save money to get lipo..
