I can see your son is already interested in it. I see how you used two tank style motor/gear units. By changing the wires to the ESC (2) you could make that truck steer like a tank also (just a thought). I like the way you think,some r/c maker might be happy to buy some of your thoughts. @gewizz2 yes, b/l is much more efficient. longer run times. but again, in a crawler this is almost not an issue. your typical brushed crawler with a 1100mah nimh pack will have more run time than you will ever need. you arent on the throttle that much in a crawler like you are in a plane car or boat….
