Folding a Foam Board For an RC Airplane
Video Rating: 5 / 5
This is a very well done video on how to make a rounded part out of foam board. I use it on my Mirage 2000 FoamBoard (Kappa) RC airplane.
Some Questions:
- Does the foam have some sort of paper in both sides?
Yes. This foam board does have paper on both sides. (this is a 6mm board). The paper makes it stronger then depron but also heavier. On this video I’m using a pilled piece. so the work is much easier and also the weight.
- Whats the specifications of glue used to glue on some foam?
I’m using carpenters glue for the pilled pieces. (the yellow one). CA may fit too but is much more expensive. On pieces that were not pilled we are using hot glue. excellent solution. quick and easy to use.
- Did you try putting hot water inside the pipe and making the pipe as a tool?
- What advices you have for new guy in foam building?
Haven’t tried it. may be interesting

I think that the basic and most important advice will be – patience. – Pay attention to the printout you are working with (it should be precise) – Use a new & sharp knife. when you’re cuts stop being sharp replace the knife. – If you made an error while cutting – simply do this piece again.
Good Luck

I Love Foamboard…Thanks for the great song and video. Peace.
Hi,
The music is a track from “The lord of the dance”
- If I’m not mistaking this is from the 1st CD.
(amazing performance, BTW)
Thanks,
Gil
holy smokes that works awesome.
btw, what song? sounds so happy and cheerful
a ecco come fregare il depron!!!da napoli ciao a tutti.
Hi Frank
(A little late .. hahah)
Hope it went well.
Thanks for your comment, and good luck
Gil
holy cow. I never thought of the hot water and pipe way. Thanks for the video.
Frank
Yea I used a thinner more stiffer depron that I cut out of a Hefty foam plate. On the under side of airfoil, I guess we can glue on a flat sheet of foam or a even a thin paper.
LTF … I havn’t thought of it…..
sounds like a great idea
Loved it
Cool! I might try this on the Dollar Tree store foam board.
That blower bending is very good airfoil design idea thanks, i tried it, works like a charm.
Unfortunately, I’m looking for it myself.
Here we only have the coted foam boards (we call it Kappa)
Cool thanks for sharing! Do you know where i can get some cheap depron sheets for building RC plane?
@redcorvettez06 wewre did you guys get it
amazing
@linkisthegamer The one in the video is AeroFlyPro Deluxe. But, there are other sims that are better now. One is RealFlight G5 and the other is Phoenix.
I see u really love ur child. Gratz for beeing the best father.
@sk805in Not really. But, he is obssessed with them. While he has gazillion airplanes and helis, it is never enough. If he sees someone flyin one of those toy grade parkflier, he sticks next to him in hope that he might let Justin fly it.
So, do ou think he enjoys them?
I mean its cool and all, but does he enjoy it??
@JOECOOL598 I would recommand RealFlight G5 over AeroFlyPro.
@redcorvettez06 thanxs
@JOECOOL598 go to towerhobby and put in aerofly pro deluxe under search.
can u tell me where 2 buy this program plzzzzzzzzzzz
NO CRASH hahaha
He’ll grow up and hate RC planes! hahah
After seeing the website i felt bad for the kid.
I bet there is a lot of pressure from dad to keep the sponsers rolling in!
Its one thing to imbrace something your kid loves..
But i could see him asking for something normal like a bike for his Birthday and instead he gets another plane to train on.
It looks more like a full time job/training to me rather then a hobby you do for fun.
and helicopters
2:25 made in china, fly in china, crash in china
@fireworksguy666 AeroFlyPro Deluxe
what is the sim called??
Best way to teach them things is when they are young
this advanced start in rc is probably why he is so amazing at what he does now
truly remarkable on what he has achived to date
well done on you guys
im currently teaching my son to fly 3d foamies hes is 8 just now
i just wish i got him into it sooner as he loves every minute
im guessing justin was like that too
good job
keep up the great work
@photobart1 he dont ever have to get close to a prop. his father can start the plane and everything. which i think he does. all the kid has to do is hold the TX. i’ve been raised around RC planes myself because of my father and i love it. i never got hit with a propeller. but i know this old guy who was stupid and he ALWAYS hit himself with his propellers LOL! plus kids happy.
or the kid can go out with his buddies and do drugs.
jesus christ! i just wished i had a dad when i was his age!
this kid clearly loves his game! nothing was pushed on him that he didnt think was fun.
look at 2:38 and tell me this kid is not loving his computergame.
and if more parents where as good at spotting their kids interest and talent like this dad is we wouldnt have a world full of no-good losers like we do now.
Yes I am a father and I am very proud of my daughter but I did not push anything on her like this father pushes his kid to learn radio control flying at age 3. Sorry I have seen this done before a few times with some parents pushing gymnastics on a four year old with private coaches. This is a dangerous hobby with a three year old being close to an active propeller. Other parents agree with me so I am not the only one who feels this way.
@photobart1 You apparently are not a father or are a father and don’t enjoy seeing your child excel at something. Trust me anytime my son does something amazing I take a video or picture if I can. It is something a proud father does.
your son is awsome!!!!!
i have seen all your videos
respeckt!!!
Best regads to justin!
