I got these Craftsman C3 19.2-Volt RC Race Trucks from Sears for Father’s Day and had a blast racing them. They work with the 19.2-Volt DieHard batteries from my C3 power tools and go 18mph. As you’ll see, after a huge crash they just keep on going.
My Lego 8258 Crane Truck is motorised with remote control using 1 IR receiver, 1 XL motor and 1 M motor. The XL motor is placed in where the V8 engine is to move the crane truck forward and backwards. The M motor is placed between the battery pack and the cab to control the steering. Moving forward and backwards is easy but controlling the steering is difficult as there is no auto centering and the steering turns too fast either way. Driving is made difficult when I have one hand on my N95 recording and another with the remote

Man the C3 tool line is awesome they even have rc trucks that run off those batteries. Try a lithium ion battery the thing will prob last all day. Cant wait to get my set!
@beardeddragonsrock12 A .21 in a Huge savage would hit 50 tops very hard tho my hyper 8 with o.s .28 would go about 80 or my Mamba pede race got clocked at 72 on 2 cell lipo
@beardeddragonsrock12 Yes a vxl rusty with 3 cell lipo is faster BL and Lipo are getting faster than nitros and much faster than small blocks but a little to go before it beats big blocks
i have almost 1 horsepower and mine goes 77.3 mph and we had it professionally tested. So maybe you should think before you talk.

I have couple of these. One is new in original package. The other is used but as new also in original package. Make me an offer. Last i checked they were going for $75 new and $45-50 used om ebay. i will list them there is that is more comfortable for you. let me know.
Does anyone know where to get these now ? My husband’s broke (drove through a puddle) and he can’t find the problem. Sears said they’d have them again this October but so far nothing……:-(

its way to low, every rock it hits, it bumps and is their any shock in their and it doesn’t go fast enough to get major damages, so of corse, it’ll keep on going

theyre not bad for the money i had one but returned it and got a mgt 8.0. by the way the craftsman truck has twin motors and says it goes 18 mph. i know cause i work at sears in hawaii.

Try the car with the new battery. The lithium ion battery, its same power but about half the weight.

i done that except i have the 8043 excavator and i have a seperat ir speed remote wich i used for truck and no mods on 8043

There only power functions that came with the truck is the XL motor, pole reverser and battery box. I had to take the IR receiver, M-motor and XL motor from another power function set to motorized it.

@rokenbok101 I have dissembled my 8258 a long time ago and did not take any pictures of the modifications.

@legodude12345678 if can build that truck, you can insert the motors. its not that hard. like he said, the xl-motor where the engine was and the m-motor where the steering is (like under the black circle-thing you use to steer with you hands)
theres been problems with the ir speed controller so it might be a while before they start selling it

u can make it turn slower by changing the gears

It does not have remote control out of the box. I used parts from my monster dino creator set to motorise it. Replaced the V8 with XL motor and add in a M motor for steering. Also add in the IR receiver.
No, the steering does not return to center.
does it do that when you get it or did you put in an extra motor
to turn the wheels?

I wish I could, but the IR speed remote is not available locally in Malaysia unfortunately
