While my “Visitors” were here this fall, they witnessed first hand an unusual crash of my Blue Ray Helicopter when the entire Flybar and paddles ejected themselves in flight! They were never found, so no clue why they departed company! So not having any parts, I modified the main gear plus show how I balanced the blades and bent the main and tail rotor shafts back to straight. My replacement servos are HS 55′s from Chun Park at HiTec RCD/ Multiplex. The Helicopter is an Exceed RC Blue Ray 450 from Xheli. Here is a link to their helicopter page. www.dpbolvw.net I like this helicopter and the way it “feels” in flight. I also like the momentum and constant control of my rotors, with the mod I made to make the gears solid. It is nice to have the ole Blue Ray back up. I was afraid to look at it after the crash, but glad I did, as this was not a bad fix. Thanks for watching and subscribing. Dave Herbert AMA #8221 CD/LM

www.xheli.com – Exceed RC Eagle 50 2.4G Edition is a very good choice for beginners entering the 6ch stage. The power is good enough for hovering or even 3D action. The parts are easy to find and the price is low. The mechanism cannot be more simple. It is not difficult to calibrate and maintain for a beginner. That’s very important.

Hi Dave, can you please tell me how to set up my belt cp v2 tail? At zero pitch the heli spins fast, there is no belt slip at all. Thanks
heehheheheh mygosh you really did cleverly avoid buying new parts by doing those insane things to fix it.
personally I think exceed should have sent you a new copter since it was there flaw and not pilot error…But i guess it does’nt work that way…great repair job… As long as it can still handle the abuse of crazy 3 d flying your’re good to go..
thanks
progamerIII – You have no idea who dave is. This guy has been flying R/C helos since before they were mainstream. He has forgotten more about flying anything R/C than most will ever know. So dont start casting judgment till you know.
his garage
i put them in a metal lathe, use a dial indicator u can get them within .001″ and never tell from new
dave whats the difference in the flybarless head setup thats sold to fly the heli with out it. then the other head setup thanks
No disrespect but bending shafts back to straight by hand ? pffft you wont be flying near me any time soon.
when will you upload more videos im getting pretty bored and i have waited for 2 weeks and theres no new videos please upload more

Good tip Videoguy837, I’ve recently gotten an HD cam. The low res didn’t cross my mind with the process time, so I’ve made myself look like a real twat! Lmao ;o)
Talk about be resourceful, I find I rob and pinch parts parts from anything that will do the job.
But bending the main shaft back without taking it off, I have never seen that… I always straighten mine out by placing them into a drill and I have a piece of wood outside with a hole the size of the main shaft and the size of the flybar and I simply push it into the hole while leaning on it till it becomes straight, works well on non hardened shafts and flybars. I will try just bending it next.
Hey Dave! Since it’s around Christmas time, of course I want an rc plane. Would you recommend the new Hobbyzone Super Cub LP? I am pretty new to flying
Is that a model shop or your garage?
I’ve never heard of bending back a main and tail shaft by hand and getting it straight.
I got a question why did you glue the gears together? no auto rotation now right?
Hey Nightflyer’
I was wondering what you made your
orange pontoons out of? They make the heli
really easy to see. Thanks for all the great
videos.
Ha, when it comes to fixing we think a like. I decided 5 minute JB weld works best on the blades. I was making a video to show how I built my test /training stand and the paddle flew off my fly bar and I looked and looked all afternoon before I gave up, a week later I was cleaning my stove and found it under the stove top. Lol
)))
No problem… it is the truth of course. I am amazed that I can totally strip down my own Blade CX2 and fix my mSR. Nobody but the guy at the hobby shop and I have ever fixed it. I just was interested in seeing if the heli “stand” was sold. I guess I could make my own from Mr. Herbert’s Science Class, lol!
Thanks very kindly for your comments. Welcome Holland!
If I get one, I assure you I will.
Hi can you make a video review on ESky Honeybee CP3 thank you
hello dave
again a really great vid ,, nice repair..
me and my wife love to see your vids,,
greets from holland,,
couldn’t agree more!! so brilliant and simplistic I’m kicking myself for not coming up with that idea… searching for those building vids now!!! U just dusted off my Heli!!!!!
YA i would like to come out there lol get out off here lolol
Yes, sir i like this heli and i also have a new falcon 40 and a madhawk will this 6 channel TX it comes with bind & fly those heli’s also??…the reason is my exceed 4 channel TX stopped working
Hi does anyone know if this 6 channel transmitter will also work with exceed falcon or exceed madhawk?
Its hard to control at first. It’s not a beginners heli. But stepping from a coaxial heli to this would help for training.
yes, this is a cheap heli and 3D inverted mode is difficult.
does 6 channel mean that it can do inverted flights
is this easy to control…. left side of transmittre is throttle and right side is … left right.. forward back????

2.4 ghz helicopters are suppose to have 1 inch wires or shorter, so that’s not your problem. Can you please explain more on what the problem is? Try tapping the motor a few times to see if something happens. Your motor might be broken. You can also ask your question on rcdiscuss . com to see if anybody has the same issue. Good luck!

@xhelicopter well alright it was my first flight and it crash but dont exactly remember what happend but while i waited for the spare part i ordered, i tested the tail rotor (i unplugged the main rotor that broke) and even at full throttle it wasnt moving full speed every time i tried it. when it wasnt moving fast enough it would just stay at one pace.sooo… i have the things to soder a new antenna wire should i or just leave it
How is the helicopter flying?
Hi, if you got the heli from xheli . com, please go to rcdiscuss . com and post in the CRM section. A guy named Andy will help you. Good luck!

when my eagle came all it had for an antenna were two like 1 inch wires what should i do about it. is it supposed to be like that
I just started messing with mine today. After turning it on 3 times the rotors stopped spinning. The screw that held the main gear to the rotor shaft was stripped. Now I have to wait about 10 days and pay $15 for new parts.
I’m having a problem with this model. I know i can get it airborne but it spins clockwise. I adjusted the trim and put the stick all the way in the opposite direction and it still spins clockwise. Any advice on how to correct this problem?
I agree. Brushless is awesome!
It doesn’t come with a gyro, but you can get one from xheli . com (no spaces)
does eagle 50 have gyro?
i had the same prob soon as i got to full speed it took off and whent to the right and u can guess what happend next what a pos i traded it for a hand built plane that i built what a waste well i sold it to some one for 75,00 broken
Very nice heli. Upgrade to a brushless though once the stock brushed is burned out.
I’ve had this heli for MONTHS, and I checked everything, over twice, and then some. It still would’nt get off the ground without tilting over. I thought I had bad servos, bad gyros, bad everything. What I FAILED to see all along, was that the servo MOUNT was loose. RIGHT OUT OF THE SCREWS. How could I miss this?
Had to glue down the servo mount to the frame, screws and all. Poor mount design. NOW it is solid, and it flies. Unusually quiet. Expect to upgrde to brushless motor. You need it !
No chopper experience here, I’ve got it out of the box.
First flight I charged the batteries and ALWAYS kept the tail facing me and in my second battery 30 mins later I was hovering mid air.
Sims and cables are too expensive, just don’t this thing more than 3 ft high the first day.
Get a simulator and practice for a month BEFORE you try to hover any heli. It is a learned skill.
For the people that go out and buy this $99 heli and expect to just fly… flying anything just doesn’t work out that way
Sim, sim, sim, then fly. It works
For 99 bucks it is a hell of a deal for a heli that will fly straight out of the box
Get a coaxial heli too before you go 6 channel
If you can’t hover in every orientation with a coax, you will be meeting the ground rather quickly.
takes patience and determination ..i started w/ cp’s and crashed a lot ..but now i got a 450 size and now hovering w/ and nice smooth flyouts ..oh and btw a lot of money to burn ..
ditto, I got 2 birds sitting, both need one part. I should just go back to planes. LOL!
yep i got suckered into a blade cp pro and never got the piece of sh@it off the ground
silly to suggest this for a beginner. These fuckers are hard as hell to fly. Not for a beginner of any caliber.
