Electric RC Cars Vs Nitro RC Cars

Electric RC Cars Vs Nitro RC Cars

If you are planning to enter the world of RC car racing with an electric RC car instead of a RC nitro car, then you need to know about these battery powered RC cars before you actually take the decision. There are so many options for you to choose from, that you may find it confusing to select from the vast range of models from different companies. The common thing about all electric RC cars is their energy source that is batteries.

There are basically two types of electric RC cars to choose from, the ready-to-run RC cars and the RC cars that you must assemble yourself. The first type is ideally suited for beginners and kids as putting together a RC car is a challenging job that may require experience and some knowledge to complete the task successfully.

The more experienced user will however choose to build his own car because it will allow him/her to fit his electric RC car with all the accessories that he wants. This will also be of great help to the user when he would need to repair or maintain his RC car as he will have the best knowledge about what to do and where.

Although battery powered RC cars are more popular among beginners and young enthusiasts, there are hobby-grade models available too. In the stream of racing RC cars, a RC nitro car is preferred by most fans of the genre, but RC electric cars have their uses also. These are silent, smoke-less and compared to RC nitro cars, cheaper as well.

Although RC electric cars are not as expensive as RC nitro cars, there are relatively expensive models available also. It is therefore advisable to select your model after carefully deciding on budget and how you are willing to spend.

It is better to buy what you need from a well-known hobby source, but if you are a beginner, then try to buy it from a reputable shop or website. If you choose to buy online, your options will increase as websites host variety of the models that are available in the market plus detailed reviews about RC cars pros and cons. This will also enable you to evaluate them more comfortably. If your purchase timing can coincide with a sale or discount from a reputable shop or website, do take advantage of the opportunity.

If you are a serious RC car hobbyist and want to improve upon the current velocity and power of your RC electric car, then tune it up and after changing the brushes, break-in by lifting the tires off the ground and running the engine for around 5 minutes roughly while the remote control is in one-fourth of its full throttle to complete the break-in. Practice such break-ins to increase the life of the RC car as it helps to decrease the heat produced during motor operation. The engine may need to be replaced though if you have already changed the brushes more than five times.
