If you are already experienced at this past time then you understand why even the mention of racing RC cars can excite you. It is a safe hobby (at least for you), and the excitement level it can provide is just out of this world.

If you are among those that have yet to get a feel of what racing RC cars is all about, well – heres your chance to read a bit about the hobby – and it is never too late you know.

1. A wide range

Remote Control cars can be operated from a joystick through wireless communication or radio frequencies.

The models of remote control model cars can be as simple as the start – stop variety or as complex as the sophisticated ones that offer the similar maneuverability as the real full size racing cars, and everything in between.

2. Its for everyone!

This hobby has got everyone from old to young to men to women to children interested in it.

After all the skills that you require for this cannot be affected by age, as long as you are not a toddler. This is the best thing about RC cars – anyone can enjoy it, as long as speed and strategy do hold your interest.

3. Where to get one?

[Want a Free RC Car?]

Well, racing car models are available widely. You could get some simpler models at toy stores, great models in the hobby stores, and a huge variety online as well. We suggest you buy your racing car model from a local store so you can maybe try it out before you actually pay for it.

RC cars are assets that become quite personal to you so you will want to get one that you are most comfortable with. The truth is, the best RC cars are often the most expensive ones. However that does not mean that the most expensive RC car would suit the absolute beginner.

The more the controls the harder it is to control the car, and the complexity of the task requires great skill when you consider that everything has to be done in the nick of time. We suggest – if you are a beginner get a simple model and get the hang of it before you move up to something really expensive. You’d be throwing your money away if you ditched the car into a pond you know!

4. Maintenance

Just as with most everything else, RC cars need care and maintenance. You need to take care of these babies just as you would take care of a full sized car, especially if it is the gas powered variety you are using. Timely cleaning, tire checks and the likes of that will ensure years of enjoyable racing.

Keep in mind that your model will require some care that you may not be able to provide yourself. So if you are a beginner, regular pit stops with the supplier will keep your car in top shape.

Real quick video on how to converting your Turnigy Motor to a Pusher Motor. The method is a little crude, but seems to work well.

Both Frank and I have used these converted motors on planes that routinely break a 100mph.

You will need to source the correct size shaft collars for the motor you are converting. Typically the 28mm motors us a 4mm collar and the 36mm motors use a 5mm collar.

I usually just buy wheel collars from hobbyKing.com. They sell them in 10 packs. hope this is helpfully.

This <a href="http://bit.ly/en8AxP"target="_blank">Radio Controlled airplane is a scratch built 1936 Lanzo Record Breaker with an eight foot wing span.

It is about 12 years old & has seen many configurations from:

Gas powered tow plane

Camera ship

Autonomous test platform

Video transmitting search plane</il>

In its current configuration, it is a Night Nite flying rc airplane with 30 meters of LED lights. I know I said 6 meter in the video, but I was nervous

That’s a total of one thousand eight hundred individual led lights. The motor is a Hacker B-50 L-13 with gearbox, prop is 20X10, that’s a 20 inch diameter, with a Castle Creations 80 AMP speed control and a six cell 5000 Mah Thunder Power Extreme V2 li-po motor battery.

The LED are powered by three separate 3 cell 2100 Mah li-po batteries. The ship was flown at the SCCMAS facility in Morgan Hill, California by Walter Colby. Don’t complain about the camera work I found the camera guy in the home depot parking lot. wcolby HD www.sccmas.org

The LEDs draw approximately 1.2 amps for every 5 meters at 11.1Volts. I have 5 meters of red & 5 meters of green in the wing run by a single 2100 Mah 3 cell lithium polymer battery.

I have 5 meters of blue on the tail & 5 meters of white on the sides of the fuselage run by another 2100 Mah 3 cell lithium polymer battery pack. And finally there is 10 meters of white LED on the bottom of the fuselage run by a third 2100 Mah 3 cell lithium polymer battery. I am not an electrician but the lights run for about 50 minutes.

Choosing Rc Vehicles

Starting this kind of hobby isn’t easy, but not difficult either. Many beginners become easily absorbed by this type of hobby since there are a lot of options to choose from and assembling needed. The components of building an RC car develops from thinking over what a person really wants to have, comparisons and evaluation from other RC cars already built. Although the parts are available, the selection varies by size and type, so this area here needs to be spent on long periods for thinking.

Aside from the components of an RC car, there are the different types available; depending on what is suitable or rather, preferred by the owner. A choice between an electric powered or nitro cars have to be made, but then again, it all depends on what the RC car is going to be for. What’s good about electric powered cars is that their powerful electric motors are rechargeable and they tend to run quieter. As for the nitro ones, we all know that it tends to run loudly, caused by the combustion engines for nitromethane, methanol and oil fuel but runs with overwhelming speed.

Don’t forget the choice between off-road and on-road vehicles. Adventurous racers could opt for off-road cars while the ones that prefer a smooth ride can have on-road vehicles. Either way, both choices are great if especially enhanced by the owner.

And last but not the least; the size of the RC car needs to be thought of at this point. Vehicles that are of 1/10th scale are the popular ones but there are even larger ones on a 1/8th scale. Minis and micros are also available. Plus, the fun part is this, if you don’t want to limit your RC vehicle to cars, you can choose from having trucks, planes to boats for your RC collection.
